On August 20, 2026, The Center of Innovation for Bio-DX held an interactive program at the “Hiroshima Central Science Park Summer Open Lab!”, giving participants an opportunity to learn about genome editing and Bio-DX.

This time, under the title “The New Genome Detective: Find and Cut the DNA Code!”, participants experienced the basics of genome editing through a series of detective-style missions. They searched for target sequences within DNA, cut the sequences, and then tried to discover where the cut sequences were located.

Participants took on three missions as trainee Genome Detectives. Those who successfully completed all three missions received a special Genome Detective Certificate, awarded exclusively for the day, to mark their graduation from trainee status.

The Center of Innovation for Bio-DX will continue to create opportunities for people to learn about research in fields such as genome editing and Bio-DX.

Thank you very much to everyone who joined us!

■ What is the "Hiroshima Central Science Park Summer Open Lab!"?

Nine facilities within the science park participated in this event, offering a variety of science-related activities for both children and adults to enjoy.

With the theme “See! Touch! Listen! Experience the Wonders of Science!”, the event featured special lectures on deep-sea organisms and cutting-edge space exploration, as well as science workshops, experiments, facility tours, and other hands-on activities that allowed visitors to discover the fascination of science through direct experience.
